He’s usually running around terrorizing the other two felines we have. You know… being a cat. Of course my wife got online to diagnose Moswen and according to the internet he didn’t have long to live. He either had a cold or cat cancer. We freaked out.
I was at work when this all happened. So I was feeling really sad when a song by Martone came on my iPod. (Which by the way you must check them out! The album When the Aliens Come will blow your mind!) Anyway the song was Pung Yao and it reminded me of Moswen. There is a playful acoustic guitar in the song that made me remember my bouncy and playful Moswen. I imagined him rolling on the carpet in my office at home trying to get my attention or chasing around his toy with his giant blue eyes wide open.
Often, Moswen would just stare out into the room like he was trying to figure something out. As if he were trying to make sense of his purpose in life… or who and what he was.I was seriously getting choked up! What am I going to do with out my crazy Moswen? Why is this world so cruel?!?!
Well, turns out he was fine. It was all a fluke. Something apparently “inexplicable.” All cats get down like that every once in a while. That’s what the vet said. I wonder about these doctors sometimes… Anyway, he’s totally fine but that moment and those memories really made an impact on me. Thus, Major Moswen was born.
I’ve written a 3 part mini series about Major Moswen and his adventures as the only hope for mankind against alien invaders. I’ll be using animation and music to tell this story. Some video footage but no dialog. Music is one of the biggest influences in my work, so through this story I wanted to convey strong emotions, such as the one I experienced with the Martone song.
I’ll have more updates soon so stay tuned.
